AI is a singer-songwriter born in Los Angeles, USA in 1981 and raised in Kagoshima Prefecture. In her teens, she moved to LA to sing in a gospel choir and learn dance at a prestigious LA art school. After returning to Japan, she made her major debut in 2000 with the single "Cry, just Cry". With her soulful singing ability and lyrics spelled out in real words, she won many listeners and released numerous hit songs.

In addition to domestic artists such as Amuro Namie and EXILE ATSUSHI, AI also collaborates with overseas artists such as Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg, The Jacksons, and Chaka Khan. In 2019, she released the best album Kansha!!!!! Thank you for 20 years NEW & BEST to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her debut.
