Aikawa Nanase

Aikawa Nanase (相川七瀬) is a rock singer.

She began taking entertainment auditions in her first year of middle school (around 1987). Her final audition was in 1990 for Sony Entertainment, which she did not pass. About a year later she was contacted by Oda Tetsuro, who produced the audition. At the time she had given up on working in entertainment and refused his offer, but called him back a year after. She moved to Tokyo and began training for a singing debut with Oda as her producer.

In November 1995, she debuted with the single Yumemiru Shoujo ja Irarenai. Its concept was "anti-positive dark rock," which was created to contrast the "positive girl pop" that was trendy at the time. The monochrome cover art where Aikawa's face could barely be seen was also unusual for female singers of the time. The single peaked at #12 on the Oricon chart and is her fourth best selling single of all time.

She married an ordinary man in February 2001. She has three children: a boy, born on September 6, 2001; a boy, born on September 9, 2007; and a girl, born on September 18, 2012.
