[1] Not to be confused with Akimoto Kaoru (Polydor). Akimoto Kaoru (秋元薫) is a Japanese singer-songwriter.
She was also a vocalist for the band SHAMBARA.
She was discovered while participating as a backup vocalist for Matsutoya Yumi's live tour in 1983. After that she became a studio vocalist, singing as part of the backup chorus for many artists. She made her solo debut in 1985.
She retired from entertainment sometime in the late 1990s, but since 2021 has been active on social media and collaborating with other artists.

- Akimoto revealed that her favorite album of all time is Kubota Saki's debut album Yumegatari and many of the songs on that album inspired her songwriting style. She claims she has listened to it over 10,000 times in her lifetime. [1]
