Arai Akino (新居昭乃) is a singer-songwriter. Her career began after she won the 28th Yamaha Popular Song Contest in 1984, and she debuted with Yakusoku in July 1986. Beginning in 1987 she changed focus to mainly singing soundtrack and commercial music rather than her own artist career, though she still periodally releases albums and singles.
