Ayaka (絢香) is a singer-songwriter. She began performing in 2003 as the vocalist of a band. The next year she began attending classes at the Ongakujuku Voice music school. With the help of the school, she produced a demo tape to send to Tokyo, and was signed by Warner Music Japan.
On April 3, 2009, she announced that she would marry actor Mizushima Hiro. She also announced at this time that she was suffering from Graves' disease, and would be taking a hiatus from singing to recover.
In late 2009, she left Ken-On due to her husband's departure from the agency and founded her own management company. Her contract with Warner Music Japan also expired in March 2010. In October 2011, she announced the establishment of her own label as well, and resumed singing activities.
On June 19, 2015, she announced the birth of her first child, a girl.
As of July 2019, her agency is a subsidiary of Avex Management.
On October 19, 2019, she announced the birth of her second child, also a girl.
