Kurasawa Atsumi is a Japanese talento, former actress former idol, and former member of idol group Warabe.

History[]

Kurasawa loved music since she was a child and dreamed of being a singer or piano instructor. She started participating in local singing contests, and in her first year of middle school auditioned for a celebrity impression contest hosted by TBS. She won by impersonating Matsuda Seiko and was professionally scouted as a result.

In 1982 she accepted an acting role for the family television show Kin Chan no Doko Made Yaru No? and was placed into its representative idol unit Warabe which was very successful. After Takabe Tomoko was put on probation due to a scandal, Kurasawa became the most popular member of Warabe and was chosen for a solo debut in 1984.

She retired from singing in 1988 and went on hiatus from acting in the early 1990s. She then married an Australian businessman and moved to Australia with him. They have three children together and currently live in Dubai.

Although she currently lives outside of Japan, she frequently visits and also belongs to a talent agency, so she is not technically retired from entertainment.
