History[]

PRODUCE 101 JAPAN is a spin-off of the original Korean audition program, in which "national producers" select the debut members of a new group from 101 trainees through viewer voting. It landed in Japan in 2019, with JO1 from Season 1 airing that year and INI from Season 2 airing in 2021. Season 3 is the first girl group audition after landing in Japan. The final stage to determine the 11 debutant members was held on December 16 at the Aichi Sky Expo in Aichi, Japan.[3]

After the debut evaluation, eleven members were selected for ME:I: Kasahara Momona, Murakami Rinon, Takami Ayane, Sakurai Miu, Yamamoto Suzu, Sasaki Kokona, Iida Shizuku, Shimizu Keiko, Ishii Ran, Ebihara Tsuzumi, and Kato Kokoro.[4]
