@JoshuaJSlone after making the templates i can see I missed the point of the /Images, do you think you can make the bot change all categories to have /Images before the type, will change the release one too to have /Releases but that one can wait for the bot
Sorry, I think you've lost me. I'm not sure what point you missed or what kind of change you're hoping to make, so can you maybe rephrase with some more explanation? :)
CategoryTexts/Solo becomes CategoryTexsts/Images/Solo, CategoryTexts/MusicCards becomes CategoryTexts/Images/MusicCards and so on? Sure, that shouldn't be a problem. What about the one that's currently CategoryTexts/Images?
OK, all the image templates have been renamed and I used the bot to change things to the new names. Though once renamed, as long as the redirect remained at the original name they'd continue to function properly.
Wait what do you mean by not using the “Bands category” anymore? Is is just for that one page or for all bands?
I just find it beyond retarded if we keep the “Boy/Girl/Co-ed Bands sub category” but we don’t have the “Bands main category”. I’m sorry but I fail to understand the reasoning behind this move.
I mean the band category now is to collect all the sub tags, it is still a thing to collect all the three and i'm currently figuring out a way to showcase them all so the category still is in efect, we have seen how many categories that currently are on the pages and want to me it easier. It's still a work in progress but you're more than welcome to help on the matter wither here or on the discord :3
Also it’s very clear and doesn’t need to be modified. What is this page? It’s a band, a boy/girl band, formed in x year with x members and has x members now, debuted in x year. Those are the categories I add to a band page. Clean and informative, and it doesn’t need any modifications at the moment.
For groups we saw it was not needed but as you say i might have to look more on the band part since they are even more wide genre and all. We are woring on revamping all categories to make everything easier and we had a poll on the discord, till I find a better way you can still add bands to, if you have any other feedback feel free to say them as I want all to just enjoy it here since everyone is doing so well.
By removing the main category, if someone wants to browse through all bands on the wiki they would have to navigate through several sub-categories, since the FANDOM search engine sucks and won't allow searching for multiple categories or string matching.
Categories are the only decent navigation option around here, so usability should be considered above anything.
For now bands can stay on as we figure out a thing for both such as a dictionary for jpop bands, jrock bands, visual kei and such so it can be parted in but still show all bands, have looked on a featured template maybe for the front page showing a random group or band or soloist to show more unknown artists
A dictionary for jpop bands, jrock bands, visual kei and such feels really unnecessary. It just makes it feel really messy and way harder to navigate. Your idea doesn’t really work, you’re just taking one step forward, two steps backwards.
Yes, glad you understand that your proposal for bands doesn’t work. Keep the categories like how it is now. Do whatever you want with revamping group categories, I don’t really care about those. But don’t screw with the bands stuff. The search system on fandom is utter shit and we know that, adding unnecessary sub categories would only make it more complicated and less enjoyable for users.
I have mixed feelings about the category thing as well. With the wiki I edited on originally, it did use a lot of sub-categories with a main category that acted as a hub. But I did enjoy using Groups/Bands as good general categories to store everything especially since like you mentioned the search tool isn't the best. I'm fine with keeping the sub-categories as long as we do keep things in the main category especially if regular users find it more helpful.
hey there i saw ur changes to some of the visual kei artists. i think that the visual kei guitarist/bassist etc sub category should remain. imo thats a gd sub category to have. its kinda like red/blue/green colour member but for vk artists. do u mind if i add them back?
I've noticed your edits on recent pages, and while it is fine to feel frustration over people editing pages that you're focused on. Please remember that this is a public wiki so its not ok to have a monopoly over individual artist pages and everything associated in their discography. Other people are allowed to edit their pages and I do not want this wiki to develop a bad editing atmosphere for new editors and visitors.
yea as much as i like it and wish to help it seems not worth it in the wind, got no will to do it after telling tho normally people are like oh okay i'll let it be for some time but as long as that person will be here and always pops up when i come back i should maybe just lay it all behind me in the end
Hi, thanks for supporting Mashilo! She would appreciate if her name was spelled 'Mashilo' not 'Mashiro'. Also, she is only 16yrs old and still in school, not 29. Will you please update that information for her? Thank you very much! ありがとございます
Due to personal issues I'll try to only work on one thing which will be Zenbu kimi no sei da.
As much as I wanna continue on all the projects I had running my mental state on this wiki is not great and have been off for around a month to heal, I do really miss all the time I used to spend here but to help myself I'll stick to this one topic in hopes someone specific won't edit it since it's not their interest in music, I'll gladly help people all I can no matter what but will only come on maybe once every 2 weeks I think?
You can always DM me on twitter if you have questions on pages I have created or used to edit very often, hope someone can edit Band janaimon, CY8ER, Klessis and such.
