Miyazaki Yoshiko (宮崎美子) is an actress, talento, model, and former singer.

History[]

Miyazaki was a very intelligent child from a young age, so her parents suggested she study at university. She eventually enrolled in Kumamoto University in 1977 and began studying Political Science. While at university, a friend of hers in the Photography Club took an amateur photo of Miyazaki and released it as a bromide photo. The bromide became very popular among Kumamoto University students, and Miyazaki became a micro-celebrity at her college. From there she received small modeling offers from local department stores.

In 1979, Miyazaki sent in a candid photo taken by her then-boyfriend to the Shimoyama Kenshin Takes! "Spring on Campus" scouting contest and was the winner out of 1000 applicants. After that, she was approached to model professionally. Miyazaki appeared in a television commercial advertising film cameras in 1980 and she became a social phenomenon, kicking off the "College Girl" craze of the early half of the 1980s. As her modeling career took off, Miyazaki also started acting and releasing music. However, she could not balance singing, acting, and modeling, so she went on extended hiatus from singing in 1983. She made a return to music in 1987, this time in the hip-hop genre, but then permanently retired after one single.

However, she still works as an actress and model as of 2023.
