Momoco Club is a former idol girl group. It consisted of teen idols, actresses and fashion models who were featured in the gravure magazine Momoco.

The group performed original music at televised concerts and many members became popular idol soloists while active in the group or after being scouted from the magazine.

History[]

Any idol, actress, or model who was featured in the Momoco magazine was entered into the Momoco Club and assigned a "Momogumi Attendance Number." Therefore there were thousands of members of the group from 1983 to 1994, as many people appeared only once but were still assigned a number. However, only 37 members participated in idol activities as a group.

It became an official idol unit on October 6th, 1986 when a Sunday morning live television show was launched featuring some of the magazine's most popular idols, actresses, and models and was meant to be a more wholesome competitor of Onyanko Club's then declining television show Yuuyake Nyan Nyan.

However, the television show did not achieve much success, resulting in very little of the group's music being physically published, and the Momoco Club ceased their music and idol activities as a group on September 27th, 1987 with the cancellation of the show.

However new members were still added to Momoco Club until the magazine's final issue in 1994.
