Trivia[]
- He is married to author and former actress and singer Uchida Yayako (内田也哉子). The couple married in 1995 and have three children, eldest son Uchida Uta (内田雅樂), born 1997, daughter Uchida Kyara (内田伽羅), born 1999, and youngest son Uchida Gento (内田玄兎), born 2010.
- He quickly retired his idol image through a series of scandals shortly after leaving Shibugakitai, appearing in mature film roles and even publishing a nude photobook. He caused a major controversy in 1992 after his performance at the 42nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, in which he wore a costume with his behind partially exposed and a necklace with a condom pendant. He later explained that the costume was meant to promote AIDS (human immunodeficiency virus) awareness in Japan.
