PEARL was a rock band. It was formed in 1987 as a rebirth of the band STEP.

By the end of 1989, all members except SHO-TA had left and the band became her solo project. It was dissolved after she switched to performing under her real name, Tamura Naomi, in 1994.

PEARL was revived with a new lineup in 1997 and continued until 1999. They revived one last time in December 2007 to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
