SO.ON project is an idol group formed in 2011 as the official idol club of the Osaka School of Music - a performing arts high school in Osaka.
Originally the group was split into two teams: MY SCHOOL, having a pink theme color and an orthodox idol concept; and high color, with a black theme color and cool dance & vocal group concept. Songs featuring all members were credited as being from the collective team SCHOOL MATE.
In 2016, the two teams were replaced by three new ones: TEAM ONE HEART, with a red theme color and a cute concept similar to MY SCHOOL; TEAM So−Da, with a blue theme color and a cool concept like high color; and TEAM MYIDOL, with a yellow theme color and an energetic and varied concept.
MY SCHOOL and HIGH COLOR were revived with the start of the 2019 school year.
In 2015, sub-groups SO.ON project FUKUOKA and SO.ON project TOKYO were formed from the idol clubs of the Fukuoka School of Music and Tokyo School of Music. Collaborating with SO.ON project TOKYO is the Sapporo branch, based out of the Sapporo Music & Dance High School; and collaborating with SO.ON project OSAKA are the Kobe and Nagoya branches, based out of the Kobe/Koyo Music Dance & Arts High School and the Nagoya School of Music respectively.
