Sakura Gakuin (さくら学院; Cherry Blossom Academy) was a Japanese idol group originally formed with eight members in April 2010 by the talent agency Amuse. The group made their live debut in August 2010 at the first annual Tokyo Idol Festival, and their first single was released on December 8, 2010.
The group was set up as a "limited to growth-period" unit, with girls becoming eligible to join the group in their fifth year of elementary school and forced to graduate at the end of junior high, which is the last year of compulsory education in Japan. Sakura Gakuin took on a school theme, with girls wearing Japanese school uniforms and participating in club activities. Every March, the oldest class would graduate and be replaced with new members that same May.
On September 1, 2020, the group announced its disbandment, scheduled for August 31, 2021. The final year would serve as the tenth anniversary as well as the farewell year. The lineup would have no new members, a first for the group.
The final live show was held on August 28, and the group officially disbanded on August 31, 2021.
