Suda Masaki (菅田将暉) is a male actor and singer from Osaka. He debuted in 2009 with Kamen Rider W. He received the 37th Japan Academy Award for Best New Actor for The Backwater and the 41st Japan Academy Award for Best Actor for Wilderness: Part One.
Suda initiated his musical activities in 2017 and debuted with the single "Mitakotomonai Keshiki". After that, his single "Sayonara Elegy" won the first place in the annual ranking of LINE MUSIC in 2018. His digital single "Machigai Sagashi", released in May 2019, swept number one at various distribution stores, won first place for the first time in the Oricon Weekly Digital Single Ranking for three consecutive weeks, and exceeded 300 million streaming views. In the same year, he performed for the first time in the 70th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen and won the 61st Japan Record Awards for Special Award.
His single "Niji" released in November 2020 has also surpassed 300 million streaming views.
His younger brother Sugo Kento, better known by his stage name Kocchi no Kento, is also a singer-songwriter.
History[]
- On December 5, 2023, his new song "Kodama Suru" (谺する) was announced to be featured as the theme song for the movie Kimi to Sekai ga Owaru Hi ni FINAL (君と世界が終わる日に FINAL; Love You as the World Ends FINAL) starring Takeuchi Ryoma, which will be released on January 26, 2024.[1]
