UA is an R&B singer.

She made her debut in 1995 after being scouted at a club in Osaka she was working at. Her breakout hit came one year later with Jounetsu.

She was the vocalist of AJICO during their brief activity from 2000 to 2001.

In 1996, she married actor Murakami Jun. Their son, Murakami Nijirou, who is now also an actor, was born in 1997. The couple divorced in August 2006, and UA received custody of their son.

She had her second child, a daughter, in August 2008, and remarried the next month.

Her third child was born in August 2011.

As of fall 2014, she lives in Canada with her family. She now has a fourth child.

Trivia[]

  • She graduated from Kitasenri High School, and Kyoto Saga Art College majoring in graphic design. She went back to school in Tokyo to study video, but returned to Osaka one year later.
  • Her stage name is derived from the Swahili word for flower (maua).
