Yasuha (泰葉) is the stagename of Ebina Yasuha (海老名泰葉), a Japanese singer-songwriter, talento, and a producer.

Her father was the late Japanese comedian, Hayashiya Sanpei Ⅰ, and her mother is Ebina Kayoko.

History[]

Ebina was born into a famous family of Rakugo comedians. However, she did not have much of an interest in learning Rakugo comedy, and decided to pursue music instead, despite her parent's objections. She failed to make it into any music universities, so she decided to go the independent route as a composer after high school. She made her debut as a singer-songwriter in 1981 to moderate success. However, the rest of her work did not see as much success as her first single, so she retired from music after marrying Rakugo comedian Shunputei Koasa (春風亭小朝) in June 1988 and returned to her family's role in Rakugo as a behind the scenes planner and supporter.

In 2004, she sporadically began to return to the media by appearing on various Rakugo related programs. In 2007, she announced that she and her husband had separated and divorce plans had been set in action. However, she caused controversy by claiming her estranged husband's alimony of 150 million yen was "too little." Although the press was negative, Ebina took it to her advantage by using it as an opportunity to make a full return to media. In 2008 she launched a blog, published a memoir, and opened her own talent agency "Iron Candle." She made her return to music in 2009, however she soon cancelled all public performances by 2010 and went on hiatus. In 2013, she started performing at dinner shows, and by 2016 had resumed her music career. However, she has been on musical hiatus since 2021 to treat her mental health disorder.
